Agile Software Development Methodologies Usage Survey 2011
Survey Results

The Agile Software Development Methodologies Usage Survey for 2011 results is presented below. Although the
number of valid responses was relatively small , a fair amount of information can be gleaned from the collected
data. A few tentative conclusions that can be drawn are provided below.

A significant amount of managers and business/systems analysts have responded and indicated their interest in
adopting agility. The majority of those respondents that did not know about agile wanted to know more about it, if
given the opportunity.
The results also show that most of the respondents (63%) are using some sort of agile methods in their
organization. 50% of the respondents that use agile methods have teams that are between 1 and 5 people.
That is in line with some of the other studies out there. Only a few have teams that are over 20 people.

One interesting finding is that 44% of the respondents indicated that they were using agile project management
tools to manage their product backlog. That is considered interesting because it demonstrates that teams realize
that these tools are helpful, despite the fact that some early agile gurus cautioned against the usage of software
tools.

Take a look at the results for yourself.
Thank you for taking part in the survey and please come back for more.
